I found the perfect combination to have this Amp perform a it best, use it with a 400 RMS at 4 Ohms and 800 Peak ( Maximum)Sub-woofer.
Then you can go about 90 percent or about 225 Watts goin to the woofers that is about 55 of the sub-woofers RMS. So the Watts variation are always a at a good range of performance.I use a BOSS CHAOS SE122DVC Sub-woofer,and this combination rocks.
I try with a sub-woofer that has a very heavy magnet 140 oz. and with an effciciency of 90 db. and it didn,t perform good, the amp overheat and the sound was bad because the Amp was working to hard. Then a try with a sub-woofer with a magnet of 80 oz. and 92db of efficiency. and again now the amp didn.t overheat but the Sub- was working very hard and the sound was miserable. Both of those Sub- have a efficiency of 90 and 92 Decibels.
Now i'm using a HIGH EFFICIENCY Sub-woofer. 120 oz. magnet ( not very much work for my amp) and at 95 db efficiency, ( the sub's are very loud and the bass is very clean and feel like if it was much more powerful. I have this Sub-woofer mounted in an "Closed" enclosure that is. about 18"x18"x14".I haven't try with a ported enclosure yet. I use this in the trunk of my mid-size car.
I don't bother the neighbors two blocks away. but me and people between 60 - 100 yards, can really feel the powerful bass very clear.
This is a very efficient set-up with clean, clear and powerful bass and no a distorted noise maker. I 'm very satisfied with this Amp.(And Sub-woofer).

the boss cx1100m is a decent amp but its power ratings are actually wrong, and it sounds "muddy" and a little distorted for me at a medium gain level and a somewhat high volume. overall if your desperate for some bass this will push subs, just not what the amp is rated for.....
