my first one lasted 3 months right after the time to return it expired. Somehow it just shut off and won't turn on. ( Just to be clear I didn't abuse it, I only listen to classic rock and easy listening type, not full blast ear splitting music like some of the kids now listen to. In other words I'm more for the fullness or clarity of the music). Well,I thought i was just given a defective product so I bought another one. I really like the way it fit under my seat and the the fairly decent bass it provided My second one is dead now after 3 months again! it just blink a red light and does not power on. I think the amplifier in it is made pretty cheaply with substandard parts like cheap capacitors and diodes. I plan to dissassemble it myself and maybe salvage the subwoofer and just attach it to a good 2 channel amp.
here are the numbers:
Pros:
- sounded pretty decent when it lasted 3 months
- fairly easy to install ( just like any other car amp)
- fits well under my seat
Cons:
- cheaply manufactured ( lasted 3 months under light use )
- pretty pricey ( especially if you need a new one every 3 months)
Overall:
- I'd look for other brands maybe they're a little better made or I'll just find a low profile enclosed sub without amplifier put it under the driver seat and have a real heavy duty 2 channel amp and put it under the passenger seat. I think the amplifier that's inside one of these things are like those made by my classmate in my engineering class in college which are cheap and flimsy.

Spent 5 hours running wires from the battery to under the seat in a 2005 Toyota Camry. Removed the seat and floor panels to make a nice installation. Laid out the sub-amp where it would have been installed under the passenger seat. Hooked up the wires as easy as can be. Turned on stereo and had sound. Started to adjust the micro screws to set variables AND THEN IT QUIT WORKING. Bought this in March 2010 and returned it to Amazon after getting an RMA and UPS slip online. I only paid around $125 shipped FREE. I see it has gone up in price to $140. I would suggest looking elsewhere on this product. After I had problems, I went online to other site who sold this and other reviews had the same complaints..."IT QUIT WORKING".
Just a side note, this unit is pretty heavy and yet you only get 4 small rubber mounts...not very giving. Expected metal L-brackets.
Also had to give it a Star because Amazon would not let me give 0 Stars.

After reading the reviews I was a bit skeptical about making this purchase. I decided to go ahead and try it knowing that amazon has great customer service! Anyway, I have a Chevy Colorado and installation was a breeze. I cant believe the bass this thing pumps out! If you have a budget and dont want to mess with an amp, box and subs and/or youre tight on space, give this unit a try!

Please keep in mind that most reviews here are written right after the items are purchased.
I've had my BASS1200 for a little over a year. For what it is -- a low-profile subwoofer meant to fit in very tight spaces -- I would consider the performance satisfactory; when it works correctly, that is. I found the unit to sound a bit boomy at around 90 to 120 Hz, but I'm not sure if that had to do with the interior volume of my car, a Mazda 3 sedan. It fit perfectly beneath the passenger seat.
Right around the 13th month, my unit began to produce crackling/popping noises, which persisted even after I unplugged the input line. In addition to the weird noises, I noticed that the quality of the bass became less punchy, and the frequency response became extremely uneven. From that, I gathered that the fault lied within the driver circuit instead of the actual subwoofer (i.e. speaker portion). I promptly returned the unit to Boss Audio for warranty repair, which cost me $15 plus another $15 to ship it out to them. About a week and a half later, I received the unit back with a sticker indicating that no problems were found. Arghhh!! How about a phone call or email to ask me about the exact symptoms?! So now I'm out $30 for NOTHING.
With all that said, I try to keep in perspective the original purchase price and slim profile. If you're lacking space in your car; want something to last you about a year (maybe more); and are not an audiophile, then it might make sense to plop down $100 for one of these. Otherwise, I'd look for a better long-term investment, though it might require more space. I will never buy -- nor recommend -- a Boss product again. The lack of customer service killed the deal for me. My plan now is to tear the sucker apart myself, as I'm quite savvy with electrical/electronics stuff. I hope you have a better experience.

I had the unit professionally installed into a jeep patriot. It fits great under the seat. I have It hooked up to the factory stereo using the high level input. It sounds great when it works, but the unit shuts off after about 10 min. If I power the stereo off for a couple seconds it will work for about another 10 min and so on. This is my second unit and I am taking it back to the installer today to try to fix. Its been a bit of a hassle, but if I can just get to work properly I would be perfectly satisfied.
